this season was the last one i saw of Digimon. i didn't like it as much as Pokemon at the time, but i really did like the first season.

the ones where the kids became Digimon or whatever just got too weird.

I always wonder... from what I know, the Renamon from Digimon Tamers was a male, but somehow the female version is much more popular...

actually no, she said that digimons were genderless, and rika's mother still treated her as female(and told renamon that she acted like a female)

Ah, ok. In the german version, Renamon had a male voice and Rika's mom thought, "he" was a male.

but the original japanese, the english, and spanish versions(i dont know what other languages) had renamon as female

Hm. Strange.

But I think that the idea of a male Renamon intesifies the point made by Rika's mother: When "he" fuses with Rika to form that megelevel "WhateveritsnamewasMon" AND... *drumroll* ...becomes a female!

Then "his" statement "Digimon are practically genderless" makes MUCH more sense. Here is a link to a german episode: [link] (Renamon doesn't talk much before minute 7.)
Even if you don't understand the languge, you should be to listen to the voice.
